Pete Kmet for Tumwater Mayor
Tumwater Mayor Kmet received an early endorsement from TEV because of his strong track record of bringing his environmental values and expertise to his work as mayor (since 2010) and previously as a five-term Tumwater City Council member. Pete’s professional background is in civil and environmental engineering, including a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before he retired, he was a Senior Environmental Engineer at the Washington State Department of Ecology. Kmet has played an important role in regional environmental planning, currently serving on the Thurston Regional Planning Council’s Transportation Policy Board, on the Thurston Thrives Community Design Action Team, and on the Thurston Thrives Climate and Clean Energy Action Team.
